A sunny October ride along Lake Ontario — from Woodbine Beach to Tommy Thompson Park and Cherry Beach.

Monday, October 6, 2025, turned out to be a hot day — around +27°C. It felt like the perfect time to explore a new cycling route along Lake Ontario.

Start — Woodbine Beach

I parked at Woodbine Beach — parking is free on weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM, which is super convenient. The weather was perfect, the beach was calm, and I decided to start riding toward Tommy Thompson Park to enjoy the lakeside views and some quiet nature away from the city.

Tommy Thompson Park and the Closed Bridge

The road to the park runs along the beautiful shoreline, with the sound of waves and seagulls in the air. However, when I reached the Tommy Thompson Park Floating Bridge, it was temporarily closed.

A little disappointing — but I decided to head back and continue my ride to Cherry Beach instead.

Cherry Beach — Sunshine and Calm

Cherry Beach was glowing under the afternoon sun. A light breeze from the lake, calm waves, people relaxing and soaking up the last warm days of autumn. I sat for a while enjoying the view, took a few photos, and then rode back towards Woodbine Beach.

The Ride Back

The ride back felt easy and pleasant — with a cool wind and the sun slowly setting over the lake. In total, I covered around 20 kilometers, but it felt like a short and refreshing mini-adventure. This part of Toronto is one of the best places to experience the lake’s atmosphere and connect with nature without leaving the city.
