Bike Ride: Niagara-on-the-Lake → Niagara Falls Loop
Cycling

A sunny fall bike adventure along the Niagara River — from cozy Niagara-on-the-Lake to the roar of Niagara Falls.

Niagara-on-the-Lake → Niagara Falls Loop

It was a sunny and hot day — around +27°C. We decided to spend it in the charming town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 1 hour and 40 minutes from Toronto.

We stopped by Soko Bakery Cafe for a delicious cup of tea and fresh croissants before heading to the Fort George National Historic Site parking lot. Parking cost just $8 for the whole day, and it’s the perfect starting point for the ride.

The Route 🚴‍♀️

From Fort George, we followed the scenic Niagara River Recreation Trail — a peaceful road shaded by trees, passing through vineyards and small cafés along the river.

After about 1.5 hours of riding, we reached Niagara Falls, greeted by its misty air and powerful sound.

We took a short break, ate an orange, drank some water, and cooled off in the refreshing spray of the falls before heading back.

The Way Back 🌇

The return route was easier — mostly downhill — but we were getting tired. We stopped for a short snack break: herring with tomato (our “bike trip special” 😄) and a few candies for energy.

By 7 PM, we were back at the car, loading up the bikes, watching the sunset, and driving back to Toronto — tired but happy.
