Our trips to Niagara: first impressions, a hotel with a view, and wine routes

Niagara Falls

We first visited Niagara in September 2020 — just for one day. It was our first glimpse of the grand power of the water, and the memories stayed unforgettable.

In August 2021, we returned for an overnight stay at the Marriott with a view of the Falls. From our room, we had a stunning panorama, and in the evening, we enjoyed the city lights and the colorful illumination of the rushing water. That time, we also went wine touring in the region — tasting local wines and soaking in the calm of the vineyards.

In 2022, we found ourselves in the region again, this time in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This charming town, with its cozy streets, theaters, and shops, was a pleasant contrast to the busy touristy Niagara.

In 2024, we returned once more. That time, we visited the Fort George National Historic Site of Canada — an atmospheric place filled with reconstructions and history. We hiked the Upper Whirlpool Trails, where the views over the bend in the river were breathtaking. We ended the walk at the Niagara River Whirlpool, where the currents are fierce and mesmerizing. All of this was on the Canadian side.

We also visited the American side for the first time: we strolled through Niagara Falls State Park, enjoyed the views from the Niagara Falls Observation Tower, and watched fireworks in the evening.

With each trip, Niagara reveals itself in a new way: first as a mighty symbol of nature, then as a welcoming region of wineries and picturesque towns.
