This year, autumn stayed a little longer and gave us one more truly warm day. October 18 — +22°C, sunshine, and a bright blue sky. One of those rare moments when everything just fits perfectly, and staying at home feels impossible. We decided to go to Rattlesnake Point — to walk, enjoy the fall scenery, and spend time outdoors.

We bought tickets in advance on the park’s website: 🎟 Adult — $10.50, Child — $7.25. On Saturday, it’s better not to come without a reservation — the parking lot was completely full. But once you step onto the trails, the crowd feeling disappears. There are a lot of people, but still enough space for everyone.

We started with Buffalo Crag Trail — a short route from the parking area, basically a walk to the cliff. After fifteen minutes, we were standing at the edge, looking down at the forest and fields below.

Red, yellow, orange — just like on a postcard, only better. The air was warm and clear. We stood there, just taking it all in.

On the trail, there were lots of families with kids, hiking groups, and climbers with gear. There was even a sign saying you could try rock climbing with an instructor. We didn’t try it, but on a day like this, it sounded tempting.

After the lookout, we continued on the Nassagaweya Canyon Trail. The trail goes deeper into the forest, and the air changes immediately — cooler, filled with the smell of pine and fallen leaves. Sunlight breaks through the trees, painting golden spots on the ground. Silence. Only the rustle of leaves and the crunch of leaves underneath our feet.

Then we joined the Bruce Trail. The scenery changed again — a small river, wooden bridges, and the sound of running water.

Very peaceful — that kind of moment when you just walk and breathe.

In total, it was 8.96 km and 2 hours 40 minutes on the trail. And at the end, the trail decided to add a little challenge — an uphill climb

After almost three hours of walking, it felt especially intense, but going back to the car with tired legs felt good. We were really proud to accomplish this trail and we had some great family time.

A good day — warm, golden, a little tired. The kind of day you want to remember 🍁
