A summer camping weekend by the lake — swimming, campfire, marshmallows, and cozy family moments just a few hours away from Toronto.

Balsam Lake Provincial Park ⛺️☀️

August 3, 2025

We decided to spend the long weekend in nature — a spontaneous camping trip to Balsam Lake Provincial Park, and it turned out to be the best decision of the summer. We were lucky to book a campsite just three days before the trip, and it even had electricity, which made things so much more accessible and easier. We brought an electric kettle, and having morning tea in the fresh air felt like a luxury.

We stayed two nights in our tent, and it was a real mini adventure. The weather was warm, around 27°C, and the lake was perfect for swimming. The beach was wide and sandy, with shallow water — a great place for families and kids to relax and play.

After swimming, we gathered around the campfire, grilling burgers, sausages, and marshmallows, while listening to the sounds of nature and watching the sun go down. In the evening, a soft mist floated over the lake, and the air smelled of pine and campfire smoke — the perfect summer vibe.

Sometimes the best trips are the ones you plan at the last minute — simple, peaceful, and full of joy.
